Striving for Excellence

C. T. Bauer Foundation Supports Students in Academic Journey

Through generous support from the C. T. Bauer Foundation, the Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship program is celebrating a decade of helping undergraduate students at the C. T. Bauer College of Business reach their full academic potential.

Since its inception in 2015, the C. T. Bauer Foundation has given more than $17 million to this program, with more than 600 Bauer students benefiting from the scholarship support that allows them to attend school full-time and graduate within two years.

“The cost of higher education for tuition and related expenses is a challenge for the typical Bauer College student, many of whom work 20 or more hours a week outside of school,” Undergraduate Business Programs Associate Dean Frank Kelley said. “The vision of Ted Bauer included assisting students to achieve their dreams and supporting the college to prepare them to be future business leaders.”

He added: “The Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship has had a significant impact, helping students graduate on time with a lower student loan debt, and that in turn impacts their families and our community.  Thank you to the C. T. Bauer Foundation for continuing Ted’s legacy with this amazing scholarship program.”

Students who are selected to be Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholars are high-achieving students who are active in a variety of initiatives at Bauer and UH.

“This scholarship not only provides me with the financial support I need but also reaffirms my belief that hard work and determination can indeed lead to success,” marketing junior Sakari Eason said. “Receiving this scholarship is a significant milestone in my educational journey, propelling me forward toward achieving my dreams and striving for excellence in all that I do. Mr. Bauer’s generosity has alleviated the financial burden of higher education, allowing me to focus more on my studies and extracurricular activities without the constant worry of how I will afford my education.”

The Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship enables students to attend full-time and graduate within their two remaining years instead of being delayed due to finances, while also being involved in leadership and student organization activities or in the community through volunteer activities. For the first time this year, Scholars who graduate with funds still available in their scholarship, will be offered to students for one-semester funding in that student’s name.

Thank you, Mr. Bauer.

We asked Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship recipients what they would say to Mr. Bauer if given the opportunity. Here’s what they said:

“Words cannot describe how appreciative I am. His donation helped kickstart many people’s careers and touched more hearts than he probably imagined. People aspire to give back to UH the way he wanted to, and he has upheld standards and provided insight into what maybe others could not see yet, and that was their potential.”
Cynthia Bautista, Accounting/Finance Junior

“I would like to say that I'm incredibly grateful that I get to be part of a college that has fostered my drive to help others, and while I may not know where my future takes me, I know that many people will be grateful for the dedication and spirit that Bauer has given to me and my peers.”
Samuel Torres, Accounting/Management Information Systems Junior

“The opportunities you’ve created by considering and assisting students is truly appreciated.”
Sereen Talamali, Accounting Junior

“If I had the opportunity to speak to Mr. Ted Bauer, I would express my deep gratitude for the legacy he left behind, a legacy that continues to inspire and uplift students like me. I am truly thankful for the life he lived and the impact he continues to have on so many through this scholarship.”

“I would express my deepest gratitude and let him know how much I appreciate his understanding of the significant challenges talented individuals often face due to limited resources, and his desire to support them.”
