Student Orgs Share Their Values, Goals, Mission Statement

This week, Bauer College students are coming together to connect with their peers in the heart of Melcher Hall during the semesterly Bauer Involvement Fair, an event that highlights the college's student organizations and specialty programs that focus on building community.

Here, we are spotlighting some of the groups participating in Bauer Involvement Fair and sharing their descriptions of their organization's mission and what potential members can expect if they join.

Asian Business Student Association (ABSA) 

ABSA is a student organization dedicated to building a supportive community where every member feels a true sense of belonging. Whether you commute or live on campus, ABSA strives to be a home away from home. They want to create a space where members feel supported, valued and connected through our family system.  

By joining ABSA, students can expect a strong emphasis on both personal and professional growth, with access to the necessary professional resources, career development opportunities and dedicated mentorships. They also offer social experiences through family socials, campus events and athletic events! No matter if you are looking for growth, guidance or genuine connections, ABSA provides a well-rounded experience designed to help students and build future leaders! 

Black Business Students Association (BBSA)

BBSA is open to all students and all majors who are looking to grow personally and professionally. We host a mix of social events and career-focused events, including career fair prep, LinkedIn workshops, resume building, and networking opportunities with companies that come out to speak directly with our members.

When you join BBSA, you’re not just joining an organization; you’re joining a supportive community of driven students who are committed to developing their professional skills and helping each other succeed.

Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO)

CEO, also known as the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization, is a club where student entrepreneurs and business students can come together to learn about leadership skills, get mentorship, foster discussions and develop an entrepreneurial mindset.

They invite well-known speakers, offer professional development workshops and have meetings that inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and industry leaders. All majors are welcome!

Fashion & Business (FAB)

Fashion & Business (FAB) is a professional student organization linking students of all majors with a casual or professional interest in fashion to opportunities and like-minded individuals within the industry.

FAB's purpose is to provide an outlet for students to explore the different opportunities within the fashion industry and help build personal development. With a strong emphasis on connecting their organization to the Houston fashion industry and beyond, FAB continues to create events, relationships and opportunities that showcase the diversity and application of fashion from a wide variety of perspectives. They host a variety of socials, professional development events, creative workshops, fashion shows and so much more! 

Gamma Iota Sigma (GIS) 

GIS is a professional student organization focused on risk management, insurance and actuarial science. By joining our chapter, students can participate in mentorship opportunities, attend networking and professional development events, take part in their student-run career fair and gain access to job and internship opportunities with leading companies.  

Members also have the chance to attend regional and national conferences, connect with industry professionals and build both technical and professional skills. They welcome students of all majors who are interested in exploring careers in insurance, risk management, consulting or actuarial science, and they aim to provide the resources and connections needed to help members launch successful careers. 

Health Administrative Leadership Organization (HALO) 

HALO offers students professional development through workshops, panels and information sessions with healthcare executives, hospital administrators and private practice owners.  

HALO focuses on networking by connecting members with mentors, alumni and healthcare leaders in Houston at social events and community service projects like wellness fairs and health literacy drives. Members also get the opportunity to compete in a healthcare case study competition hosted by Brigham Young University (BYU) in Utah.  

HALO is an interdisciplinary organization that supports students interested in both healthcare and business-related careers, such as administration, operations and consulting. 

Hispanic Business Student Association (HBSA) 

Students who join HBSA can expect a welcoming, supportive community rooted in our five pillars: Familia, Leadership, Academics, Professionalism and Service.  

HBSA provides members with opportunities to connect with corporate professionals through networking events, panels and workshops, while also fostering strong peer relationships through social events and mentorship programs.  

Members can grow through leadership opportunities within the organization, including our Rising Leaders program and officer positions, which allows members to develop leadership skills. Through these experiences, HBSA focuses on helping students build confidence, develop career-ready skills and find a strong sense of belonging within Bauer College and beyond.

Muslim Business Student Association (MBSA) 

MBSA is dedicated to developing leaders and change-makers who are confident in their values and ethics. With over 150 members, MBSA provides students with religious, professional and practical tools to support success both academically and professionally. 

The organization hosts networking mixers, professional workshops and speaker panels, along with career-focused events and educational discussions on ethical and Islamic financial practices.  

MBSA also emphasizes community through volunteering initiatives and social events that allow members to build meaningful connections. With no membership dues, MBSA is an inclusive space where students can grow, connect and navigate their academic and professional journeys with purpose. 

Undergraduate Real Estate Scholars 

The Undergraduate Real Estate Scholars gives students foundational knowledge of the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) industry. They get to hear from guest speakers who are active industry professionals and build meaningful connections with CRE practitioners.  

Members also gain access to a wide range of internship and full-time career opportunities, and can participate in a real-life, scenario-based real estate acquisition case competition. 

The club’s ultimate goal is to introduce students to the diverse career paths available within Commercial Real Estate while equipping them with the technical and practical knowledge needed to successfully pursue a career in the industry.
