Signing the Win

Bauer Signing Day Celebrates Students’ Professional Growth

Melcher Hall might have been mistaken for Fertitta Center in early April during the Bauer Signing Day event, with students cheering and clapping like it was a UH basketball game day.

Following the momentum of March Madness, Bauer College’s Rockwell Career Center (RCC) hosted a sports-inspired event to recognize students who have signed internship and job offers. In its second year, students stopped by to take photos, grab a bite and receive their graduation cords.

“It’s the midpoint of the semester, and students are getting ready to graduate or start their internships,” Assistant Director of Alumni Career Coaching and Career Center Outcomes Amanda Wysinger said. “We love to celebrate our students’ hard work and wins, so we came up with this fun way to recognize them.”

In between reminiscing on their Bauer experience and looking forward to the professional opportunities ahead, students shared what programs and resources helped them score job offers.

Alexander Lammayot

Senior Alexander Lammayot has a lot to celebrate. Graduating this semester with degrees in accounting, finance and management information systems,  he has signed a full-time offer with proprietary trading firm DRW.

Lammayot was an intern at Capital One last summer and is excited to continue his career in finance. RCC was a major help to him early in his student journey, he said.

“When I was a freshman, I was still a little bit new to the business world,” he said. “During the second week of classes, I was able to go to RCC drop-in advising hours and meet my career coach. She set the foundation for who I am as a senior and really helped me develop my résumé, get involved with student organizations and grow professionally.”

Princessa Trejo

Finance and marketing junior Princessa Trejo is starting the summer with her next professional opportunity secured.

Trejo signed with Dell Technologies for a global marketing internship and spent the afternoon cheering on her peers’ accomplishments.

“This internship is exciting because I didn't have much luck my freshman or sophomore years,” she said. “Junior year, I started to put myself out there more through organizations like the American Marketing Association and the Program for Excellence in Selling. I networked with recruiters, and when I saw them at the RCC Career Fair, they already had a face to put to the name.”

Kristi Vo-Manh

Management information systems junior Kristi Vo-Manh will intern this summer with Humanscale.

She created the framework for her résumé with RCC years ago and has used it to apply for jobs and internships since. She attended Signing Day with her friends and classmates.

“This event is a great way to create community, collaborate and congratulate other summer interns,” she said.

Miguel Castro

Finance senior Miguel Castro will spend the summer interning at Texas Capital Bank before he graduates in Fall 2026.

By getting involved with the student organization the Finance Association, Castro said he found mentors who allowed him to get comfortable networking.

“This is the Bauer spirit that everyone talks about,” Castro said. “I'm a transfer student, and this is something that I had never experienced before I came here. I love the community and support that the faculty and staff give us.”
