College Celebrates Ted Bauer Day with Resource Fair

In the more than 25 years since Charles T. “Ted” Bauer made his transformative $40 million gift, Bauer College has advanced its benefactor’s vision for continued student success through an array of student resources.

To commemorate the late Bauer’s birthday in early March, the college hosts an annual resource fair, connecting students with the tools to succeed academically, professionally and personally during their college years.

Check out all of this year’s Ted Bauer Day booths, virtually, below.

Bauer in D.C.

Known as the program where business meets policy, Bauer in D.C. gives students an opportunity to spend the semester learning from the nation’s capital.

The experiential learning experience exposes students to interning in Washington D.C., while still earning academic credit toward their degree plan.

At the Ted Bauer Day Resource Fair, students were challenged to match pictures of Bauer deans with their titles.

Program Manager Britney Dzu also answered questions about Bauer in D.C. and promoted an upcoming information session. Applications for the Spring 2027 cohort will close at the end of the month.

Alumni Relations

At the Alumni Relations table, the students were greeted by bright markers, bright candy and the bright smile of director Bria Johnson.

Each year at Ted Bauer Day, Johnson encourages students to write a note of encouragement to their peers. Students also write words of gratitude to Ted Bauer.

The words of former Bauer students were on display as current students wrote down their positive messages.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

The college started the academic school year with a new college resource available to students, Embedded CAPS Clinician Kia Batiste, located in Melcher Hall (Room 305).

Dedicated to supporting business students, Batiste shared mindfulness practices at her booth. Students present could spin a wheel that included a different wellness technique in each section. After they spun, Batiste shared a slip of paper that defined what the mindfulness practice is, and why it’s beneficial.

Students can visit Batiste’s drop-in hours on Mondays from 2-5 p.m.

Undergraduate Advising

Before enrolling in next semester’s courses, it’s recommended that all Bauer undergraduate students check on their degree plan progress with an academic adviser.

At the advising booth, students were able to ask questions about making advising appointments and get to know their adviser in a relaxed environment.

To break the ice, students and staff played large tic-tac-toe.

Graduate & Professional Programs (GPP)

After earning a bachelor’s degree, Bauer has a range of Master of Science and Master of Business Administration degree that students can earn. Current undergraduate students with an interest in furthering their education could be eligible for some accelerated programs

GPP staff discussed what options students have over a game called “Commencement Catch,” testing students’ reflexes as they tried to catch toy diplomas.

Learning Abroad

Caught the travel bug?

Bauer has programs that allow students to spend the semester overseas, without getting behind on their degree plans.

At the Ted Bauer Day, learning abroad advisers let students know what travels options are available to them, and how they can access financial resources to study abroad.

In the spirit of exploring, the booth put its own twist on Where’s Waldo, challenging students to locate where Shasta is.

Rockwell Career Center (RCC)

In addition to the faculty experts who teach them on a daily basis, Bauer students have access to a team of dedicated career counselors at the Rockwell Career Center, devoted to helping business students professionally succeed.

Year round, RCC conducts résumé reviews, hosts networking events and grants free access to a suit closet of professional attire.

At their booth, RCC put students’ knowledge to the test by asking career center questions.
