Most of us have probably used the same excuse to turn down a volunteer opportunity: we're too busy.

Between work, family, errands, and all else competing for our attention, volunteering can feel like one more thing to squeeze into an already packed schedule," she said. "But what if feeling busy isn't the problem? It turns out that how people think about feeling busy is what really matters. When people see it as something positive rather than overwhelming, they feel more in control of their lives."

Rudd added: “Know that busyness doesn't always have to be a barrier. Sometimes it can be part of what motivates us to give back."
