Bauer Alumna Named to Forbes World's Most Powerful Women List

C. T. Bauer College of Business alumna Thasunda Brown Duckett (BBA ‘96) has been named one of the 2023 World’s Most Powerful Women by Forbes. The annual list highlights the 100 most successful and well-known women in the world and features the likes of people such as Taylor Swift, Kamala Harris and Beyoncé. Duckett is ranked No. 34 overall.

Duckett graduated from Bauer College in 1996 and currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of TIAA, a financial service company that works to provide retirement and investments solutions for millions of people and thousands of institutions. She has served in this role since 2021.

Before this role, Duckett served as a Director of Emerging Markets at Fannie Mae, and then spent 17 years with JP Morgan Chase as CEO of the Consumer Bank and Auto Finance.

Outside of her work, Duckett serves on multiple boards for multiple companies such as Nike, Inc., the National Medal of Honor Museum, and the Bauer College Board, as well as being an appointee for various institutions including the President’s Board of Advisors on Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). 

She has also received a number of accolades from numerous financial media outlets, and earlier this year was the Leadership Award recipient at the 2nd annual Bauer Gala.
