PES Open Sets Records

This October's PES Open Generates a
Record Number of Sales and Players

In October, students from the A.R. “Tony” and Maria J. Sanchez Program for Excellence in Selling (PES) at the C. T. Bauer College of Business hosted their bi-annual PES Open Golf Tournament. This student-run event, hosted every March and October at the Kingwood Country Club, is the largest non-profit golf tournament in the Houston area.

Bauer sales students spend 15-20 hours per week for eight weeks to prepare for this event. The students generated a record-breaking number of sales this semester with just over $200,000 raised. 681 players participated in the event.

“Through countless cold calls, emails and meetings, students learned to perfect their pitch, find problems to solve, and persevere,” PES Program Manager Claudia Ibanez-Flores said. “Overall, this project teaches students a lot about rejection, and that every ‘no’ is one step closer to a ‘yes.’ These students learned that hard work and dedication will produce tangible results.”
