Bauer Signs Memorandum of Understanding to Connect with Community Colleges

In November, the C. T. Bauer College of Business established visibility in one of the state's fastest-growing regions by signing Memoranda of Understanding with Texas Southmost College and with South Texas College. With these agreements, students at Texas Southmost College and South Texas College are able to have a smooth transition into Bauer College once they have completed the necessary credit hours.

“We are excited to expand Bauer’s reach to our friends in the Rio Grande Valley,” Bauer College Dean Paul A. Pavlou said. “By making ourselves present in this area, we’re hoping to bring further opportunity to the future business leaders in this area.”

University of Houston System Board of Regents member Alonzo Cantu (BBA '78) met with officials in the Rio Grande Valley to start the process of giving students in the area higher education options.

“Regent Cantu’s commitment to the University of Houston System and to educational opportunities for students in the Rio Grande Valley have been the catalysts for these agreements,” Bauer Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies Frank Kelley said. “We're excited to have signed these memoranda of understanding to make that pathway for students of seamless.”

Texas Southmost College, located in Brownsville, offers 50 different programs for students as they work to earn credits toward a bachelor or associate degree.

“The new agreement between Texas Southmost College and the University of Houston helps put business majors on track to accumulate wealth, not debt, as they pursue a college degree,” Texas Southmost College President Dr. Jesús Roberto Rodríguez said. “Because both the associate and bachelor’s degrees are offered completely online, this partnership provides students with the flexibility they need to complete their college education.”

Located in McAllen, South Texas College offers 127 different degree and certification options in business, liberal arts, social sciences and more.
