Bauer Graduate Recruiter Shares Insights at GMAC Master's Tour
The best way to stand out in a competitive pool of graduate school applicants? Tell a story admissions teams can’t ignore.
Experts from the Office of Graduate & Professional Programs at the C. T. Bauer College of Business shared insider strategies at last week’s Master’s Tour, hosted on campus by the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC). The event connected prospective graduate business students with recruiters from top programs, including Bauer College.
But beyond the networking, the event included two panels featuring Bauer’s admissions team and other recruiters, sharing actionable insights to help applicants navigate the process with confidence.

Choosing the Right Program
“Fit is everything,” said Lenay Johnson, executive director of Bauer Graduate Recruitment & Admissions. “Understanding what a school offers, down to the smallest detail, helps applicants make the best choice.
Johnson advised students to look beyond rankings and focus on alignment with their career goals, learning style and values. Connecting with alumni, visiting campuses and digging into curriculum details can make all the difference, she said.
Crafting a Winning Application
“Your application is your story,” Johnson said. “Admissions teams look at more than grades and experience — they evaluate the whole person. Personalizing your responses and weaving in your journey can set you apart.”
