Mastering the Interview

Prospective Bauer Executive MBAs Gain Insight for Essay & Interview in Virtual Info Session

For professionals eyeing an Executive MBA, getting a foot in the door at a school may feel like a high-stakes challenge.

To demystify the application process, the C. T. Bauer College of Business Office of Graduate & Professional Programs has launched a new webinar series this spring, kicking off recently with a focus on “Your Essay and Interview.”

Hosted by Executive Director of Recruitment and Admissions Lenay Johnson, the session gave attendees a behind-the-scenes look at what makes a strong application — breaking down what the admissions team looks for, how to craft standout essays and what to expect during the interview.

“These sessions offer invaluable insight into how applicants can showcase their experience and leadership,” Johnson said. “For essays, we want to see authenticity and clarity. The interview? That’s where we get to know the person behind the résumé.”

Johnson emphasized that the interview isn’t just an evaluation — it’s a conversation. Applicants meet with the admissions team on campus, explore the learning environment and experience firsthand what sets Bauer College apart.

“We ask a few structured questions to get things started, but ultimately, it’s about fit. We’re learning about the applicant as much as they’re learning about us,” Johnson said.

This webinar is just one of many designed to help prospective students navigate the application process with confidence and take their next career step with Bauer’s Executive MBA program. Future sessions will tackle how to fund the degree and tips from faculty and alumni, culminating in an in-person Executive MBA Open House on April 11.
