Mastering Academic Effectiveness

Bauer College Introduces New Academic Effectiveness Staff Position

Bauer College continues to strengthen its focus on student success in the classroom with the addition of a new staff leadership position, Executive Director of Academic Effectiveness, which will be filled by longtime accreditation staff member Todd Chaykosky

The goal of the new position is to have a college-level position to proactively use data and metrics to work with department and program leaders to improve student experience across Bauer programs and courses.

"We’re very lucky to have Todd take this leadership position,” Bauer Dean Xianjun Geng said. “Given his decades of knowledge and his deep insight regarding the college’s academic programs, he’s uniquely positioned to be an effective leader in spearheading our data-driving academic effectiveness initiatives.”

“If you’re doing everything you can to support the students, the college is going to be in a better place.”

Chaykosky started his journey at Bauer as a statistical analyst, and he describes his ascent into higher leadership positions at the college as a slow burn.

Having previously worked in the private sector, he found himself motivated by the intellectuals he worked with when he came to Bauer. He said that it was an eye-opening experience for him to recognize where his strengths lie and learn how to rely on his colleagues in areas where he fell short.

Throughout his tenure, he has grown both professionally and personally, launching into new heights to be a leader that supports Bauer's degree programs, students, faculty, staff and administrators.

“I feel I’m more comfortable in my skin and what I can bring to the table,” Chaykosky said. “I’ve been fortunate in having supervisors and mentors to learn from who’ve take the time to support me throughout my time at Bauer, and feel confident in supporting the different areas here in the college to help make a difference and support our students.”

As the Executive Director of Academic Effectiveness, Chaykosky will continue the work he’s done for the past two decades on a larger scale. He will work in conjunction with the undergraduate and graduate programs within the college to assess and support the health of Bauer’s degree programs.

“I’ve worked here for a very long time, and I’ve been fortunate to work with a lot of great people,” he said. “I’m going to continue to work with a lot of those same people, just in a slightly different role.”

He will work closely with program managers, faculty directors and department chairs to ensure Bauer delivers the best possible experience for students, faculty and staff, as well as help them with their continuous improvement efforts.

Over the course of his time at Bauer, he said he has been proud to contribute to a collective that believes in maintaining and facilitating the best possible learning environment for their students.

“If you’re doing everything you can to support the students, the college is going to be in a better place,” he said.
