Stars, Stripes & Service
In honor of Independence Day, Bauer College highlighted Executive MBA alumnus and Pearland Mayor Quentin Wiltz (EMBA '19).
Wiltz made history as the city’s first Black mayor. He uses the management and leadership skills he learned in his business school education to best serve his community in this public-facing role. On the 250th anniversary of America’s independence, he said he is honored to be sitting in a seat elected on by the people, for the people.
H-Town Hosts the World
The FIFA World Cup 2026 had sports fans travel far and wide to attend the FIFA Fan Festival in East Downtown, Houston. There to greet them with a smile and a winning attitude was Bauer student Mario Garza.
Through his summer internship with Aramco Americas, Garza represented his city and his school at the Fan Festival by engaging with the community and sharing the same energy as the crowd as a lifelong soccer fan.
His involvement in the Program for Excellence in Selling and the Ted Bauer Leadership Certificate Program helped strengthen his resilience, work ethic and motivation, which helped him go the extra mile at his internship.
Putting People First
Bauer alumna and Associate Director of Development Diana Pineda (BBA '17) has made impressive strides a decade into her career. Her professional and community-focused success earned the attention of the Houston Business Journal that included her in this year's 40 Under 40 list.
Pineda is passionate about giving back. Her career allows her to have an impact on the lives of students by managing donor's financial gifts and volunteering her time to mentor the next generation.
Big Three Internship
MS Finance candidate Argentina Guerra made history as the first Bauer student to intern for one of the Big Three management consulting firms in the world: Bain & Company.
In a highly competitive field, Guerra hit the ground running as soon as she entered her master's program. Through hard work, discipline and motivation from a mentor, Guerra secured a summer internship that has an acceptance rate of one percent.
She is not only representing her college but also paving the way and opening doors for other students to achieve their dreams.
Get CPA Ready
The accountancy program at Bauer is establishing changes that will qualify undergraduates to take the CPA exam.
With the introduction of new courses and electives previously only offered at the graduate level, students at all levels will be able to meet the exam's eligibility requirements. These classes are also designed to strengthen core accountancy knowledge and their soft skills.
By bringing in industry experts from the Big Four accounting firms and smaller CPA firms, students will be able to make a more informed decision on where they want their career to take them.
