Bauer Students Connect with Industry Professionals at Real Estate Career Fair on Sept. 23
The Stanford Alexander Center for Real Estate (SACRE) at the C. T. Bauer College of Business invites students to open the door to their futures at the Fall 2026 Commercial Real Estate Career Fair.
Dozens of recruiters from Houston’s booming real estate industry will be on campus to network and connect with students on Sept. 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Classroom and Business Building, room 328.

“By preparing personalized questions ahead of time, you’re more likely to stand out among employers.”
Having an industry-specific career helps facilitate stronger conversations with potential employers, Program Director Zach Schmidt said.
“The best way to prepare is to research the companies beforehand,” Schmidt said. “We have a company profile book that is a great tool for students to reference. It has an overview of everyone that will be there and what positions they’re hiring for.”
Program Director Miranda Torres advised students to prioritize the companies they want to talk to and to go in with a plan. If it’s their first career fair, it’s easy to get overwhelmed, she said, so sometimes it’s good to bring a friend for moral support.
“This event is open to anyone who is interested in commercial real estate,” Torres said.
Torres and Schmidt’s top tips for students is to update their résumé ahead of time and dress for success.
Even if they don’t have any prior experience in the industry, that’s OK. It is important to focus on transferable skills, Schmidt said, and sell yourself the same way you’d sell a property.
Torres added that when you look your best, you feel your best. Sometimes you need time to compose yourself before talking to a recruiter, she said, and say a few positive affirmations in the mirror.
Above all else, the career fair should be seen as an opportunity to meet new people, connect with peers and build a network, Schmidt said.

“When talking to recruiters, it’s important to remember it’s a conversation, not an interrogation,” he said. “At the end of the day, these employers want to get to know you. I hope students take advantage of this. Career fairs are one of the best values you could gain from being a student at Bauer.”
