Involvement Fair Starts Aug. 31 

From Aug. 31-Sept. 3, the Melcher Hall back drum will transform into a social showcase displaying more than 20 student organizations and programs. At the event, students can chat with peers from different groups and find an organization that matches their personal and professional ambitions.  

“It's meant to get incoming students acclimated to all the programming that the college has to offer,” Assistant Director of Student Engagement Jorge Arellano (BBA ’14) said. “It displays all the opportunities students have outside of their curriculum to become involved at Bauer College.” 

Bauer Ambassadors Vice President Kaitlyn Chung is entering her second year of the program. She said after a year in the organization, the other members became her mentors and friends. 

“Bauer Ambassadors brought all of us together like a family,” Chung said. “I love all the members, and I enjoyed seeing everyone over and over again. It's just like having old friends that you see every so often.” 

Arellano, a Bauer alumnus who is now a staff member charged with supporting the success of student organizations year-round, said engaging with extracurricular groups can help students build community and feel in touch with the college. 

“When they are involved and working toward the same goals as their peers, it enhances their student experience and builds a sense of belonging,” he said. “It also promotes their professional development to become a student leader.” 

Students can expect to meet representatives from student organizations, Bauer in D.C., the Program for Excellence in Selling, the Stanford Alexander Center for Excellence in Real Estate, the Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship, Bauer Leadership Initiatives and Bauer Study Abroad.
