AI Research Lands Bauer Management Information Systems Faculty Among Top Scholars in Nation
As rapid advancements in artificial intelligence redefine how people conduct business, researchers from the C. T. Bauer College of Business Department of Decision & Information Sciences are among the top scholars in the United States studying the topic, with a new No. 18 national ranking for management information systems (MIS) faculty.
In the 2026 UT Dallas Top 100 Business School Research Rankings, Bauer MIS faculty secured the top 20 spot through their research productivity over the past five years. In that time frame, faculty members have increasingly explored AI issues in their research, publishing their work in leading scholarly journals.
Decision & Information Sciences Department Chair Meng Li said he’s confident this momentum won’t slow down soon.
“AI has changed significantly how we do research,” Li said. “We analyze how AI affects our society and how to best incorporate AI technology. We also utilize AI to help facilitate research through discovery, coding and writing.”
Management information systems faculty specifically produce data-driven AI research through the college’s Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute. Founded by Li, the institute includes research from other business disciplines as well.
“Our department and institute are top-notch,” Li said. “We are leading the country and world, and we are going to keep getting better in the future.”
