Immersive Experiences: Bauer’s August Recap

August was a busy month at the C. T. Bauer College of Business as summer programming winded down and the Fall 2026 semester began.

Revisit the highlights of international trips and annual celebrations.

Coffee, Carnival & Commerce

Executive MBA students took their learning overseas this summer, visiting São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the International Business Residency trip.

While abroad, students met with local businesses to learn about their local practices and get an inside view of industries like coffee distribution. Between educational experiences, students bonded with peers in their program and immersed themselves in the cuisine and culture.

Konnichiwa, Houston!

The Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship made a global impacting this month, welcoming high school students from Chiba, Japan, for an entrepreneurship camp.

All 10 of the students came with a service or product that they were developing, and the camp helped them create a business plan to correspond with it. On the final day, students presented the plans they created.

By the end of the camp, students shared they felt more confident with public speaking and motivated to pursue their goals.

The Summer of Startups

Startups came to life at the Bauer campus this summer during the RED Labs Venture Showcase.

The event followed weeks of entrepreneurial development as teams of University of Houston students, faculty and recent alumni developed their businesses in the startup accelerator program.

To conclude the program, teams networked with mentors and community members, gave four-minute presentations on their products and answered questions directly during the showcase.

The Bauer Survival Guide

New and returning business students started the Fall 2026 semester this month.

To help new students start their school year on the right, business upperclassmen shared advice that they would tell their freshman self. Additionally, Bauer leaders shared advice that all students can incorporate as they pursue their degrees.

BCAA Annual Meeting

Bauer graduates from across the decades combined work and play at the Bauer College Alumni Association (BCAA) Annual Meeting.

After an evening of networking and socializing with fellow alumni, attendees heard updates from BCAA leadership, Bauer Dean Xianjun Geng and others. Going into this school year, the organization is prioritizing expanding events across the Greater Houston area and connecting with more students through mentoring opportunities.
