Bauer Professor to Serve on
Southern Management Association Board
A Bauer College faculty member has been named to the board of the preeminent professional association for management and organization scholars.
Management & Leadership Assistant Professor Curtis Wesley is joining the board of the Southern Management Association (SMA) for the next three years. A domestic affiliate of the Academy of Management, the SMA represents more than 1,000 management professors, doctoral students, and executives, from more than 200 colleges, universities, and business firms in 43 states and numerous countries worldwide.
Wesley began his career at the United States Naval Academy as a Naval Flight Offer and Diversity Admissions Officer. He also held several Executive Officer and Officer in Charge positions for the Naval Reserves. He then worked for Citigroup Citi Cards SBU in various roles, including marketing channel manager, program manager and director-level operations manager.
As a faculty member, Wesley has earned awards for his research in areas such as governance of social ventures and traditional business, having 10 different paper publications. Wesley has also become an award-winning instructor at both the undergraduate and MBA level being a faculty fellow at the Elizabeth D. Rockwell Center on Ethics and Leadership at the University of Houston Hobby School of Public Affairs, United States Coast Guard Academy Loy Institute for Leadership, and is a member of the Community of Scholars for the Center of Positive Organizations at the University of Michigan.
Wesley graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the United States Naval Academy. He earned his MBA at the University and Maryland and a Ph.D. in Management from Texas A&M University.
