Graduation Rates Rise
Bauer College Sees Notable Increase in 4-Year Graduation Rates
Nearly three out of every four C. T. Bauer College of Business undergraduate students are graduating in four years, according to the college’s latest available data.
The newest numbers indicate Bauer College’s four-year graduation rate is at 72.4 percent, which is a 5.2 percent increase from the previous 67.2 percent. Six-year graduation rates have also seen a slight uptick as the college continues to see increased enrollment.
While students are studying to earn their bachelor’s degree, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Business Programs Olivia Miljanic said the college has many resources to support students in their journey to graduation, no matter their background.
“We serve a population that includes many first-generation students who come to us with a lot of potential, but also with some added need for support to be successful,” Miljanic said. “We help them learn not just technical skills for their majors, but also how to manage time, be organized and professionally grow beyond their courses.”
Miljanic credits academic advisers, programming in the HUB for Student Success, the Rockwell Career Center and Bauer Honors as some of the resources that help retain and graduate students.
Director of Major Advising Asha Thomas explained the individual work that the different units and departments do is what contributes to the system of student success.
“Getting students involved and actually feeling like a part of the community is important because we know from research that contributes to retention and graduation,” Thomas said.
Additionally, Thomas encourages students to work with their advisers to plan for graduation and stay on track. She said students should consult with their faculty if they’re struggling in a certain class or visit the campus tutoring center.
“The key is seeking help because the earlier they can let us know that there's a struggle, the earlier we can try to link them up with the right resources,” Thomas said.
