Get Graduation Ready

Bauer College Shares Commencement Reminders

This May, hundreds of students at the C. T. Bauer College of Business will walk the Fertitta Center stage, turn their graduation tassels and start the next chapter of their lives.

Bauer College seniors have met with their advisers, applied for graduation and completed a majority of the academic heavy lifting to get to this point. Now, in the home stretch, BBA academic adviser Bethany Rose shared some last minute commencement reminders for undergraduate students.

Cap and Gown

“Graduates can order their cap and gown online through Herff Jones, or they can go to the UH Campus Store and buy it. If they want to try items on, we typically encourage them to go in person.

They have until April 15 to order their cap and gown online.”

Graduation Regalia

“The only cords we give out for free are from RCC. Any other cords or stoles can be purchased through Herff Jones. We encourage students to start doing their research if they want to buy anything additional.

There is a clear bag policy at commencement, so graduates can't bring in purses. Don’t bring anything that they can't put in their pockets because there aren’t lockers or anything for them to store items.”

Commencement Tickets

“Every student gets six tickets assigned to them. The tickets get sent to them electronically.

The University of Houston does a Ticket Lottery that potentially allows them to be able to get more than six tickets. It is unlikely students will be able to get more than one or two additional tickets.”

UHIRE Post Graduation Outcome Survey

“It's a requirement to fill out the survey from Rockwell Career Center (RCC) if students are graduating in the spring and summer.

If they fill it out, they can get a free red cord to wear at the commencement ceremony. They just have to go show RCC that they completed the survey.

It essentially lets the career center know where the students are at in the job search process, whether they already have an offer, or if they're still looking. It helps collect data for rankings and salary statistics.”
