$4.6 Million Awarded in Bauer College Scholarships
The C. T. Bauer College of Business helped a record number of students overcome financial barriers through Bauer College scholarships, awarding significantly more funds year-over-year.
In the 2024-2025 academic year, the college awarded around 1,000 scholarships, totaling more than $4.6 million. In the 2023-2024 school year, more than $3 million were disbursed between around 700 students.
“It's a testament to our donor base and how much they care about the impact that they're making,” former Senior Director of Development Vince Martino (BBA ‘16) said. “Our fundraising goals have continued to progress upwards because of the increased activity and support we've had from our alumni.”
The Office of Development & Fundraising’s top priority is scholarship funding, Martino said. Through working with donors and partners, the team oversees operational, endowed and fellowship scholarships. Martino’s favorite part of the job is getting to watch scholarship donors and recipients meet each other.
“It’s incredible when you see the students so excited about being able to work less hours because they've gotten this scholarship funding,” he said. “They can spend more time on their studies or join another student organization because they have more time. That's really where you see the impact. And we're always trying to recruit great students, retain great students and then graduate great students, and a lot of that comes down to scholarship funding.”
Bauer has need-based and merit-based scholarships, and some that consider both factors. Through the Bauer scholarship application, students can apply for all of the college’s scholarships in a single form. Submissions are reviewed by the Bauer College Scholarship Committee, who meet and award monthly.
“The most important part of the application is the personal statement,” Associate Dean of Student Affairs Richard Scamell said. “These personal statements are very revealing because you know their story, and Bauer College students have a back story.”
Bauer’s largest scholarship is the Ted Bauer Undergraduate Business Scholarship Program. This provides 65 students with $14,000 a year, for their final two years. Supported by the C. T. Bauer Foundation, this scholarship aims to assist students in reaching their academic potential and graduating on time.
“These students, more than likely, when they received this message were worried about how they were going to pay tuition for the coming academic year. They were probably worried about whether they would have to take another job. And now all of a sudden, they're given $14,000 a year. It's an amazing thing.

In addition to the personal statement, the Bauer scholarship application considers GPA, extracurriculars and more. Students are encouraged to continuously update their information in the scholarship application link. By updating the information on file, students can potentially be considered for new scholarships throughout the year.
The application for 2025-2026 scholarships is now open. Students can learn more about all available scholarships here.
