Young Finance Alumna Supports Bauer College Students Through Scholarship Gift

Giving back to future C. T. Bauer College of Business students was an “easy decision” for alumna Anysha Trevino (BBA ‘20).

Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, Trevino was first introduced to the University of Houston from her aunt, who graduated from the UH College of Pharmacy. After visiting the campus with her family and receiving a substantial scholarship, Trevino knew she was destined to be a UH Cougar.

“I had so much fun as a student,” Trevino said.  “I was lucky enough to be in the Business Honors Program. I hung out with my buddies in the lounge. I had a ton of great professors that set me up to do what I do now. I can't say enough good things about my experience at Bauer.”

In the six years since graduating, Trevino has remained active through the campus community. Trevino spent her college days involved in the Spirit of Houston and still frequents games as a passionate Cougar fan. After connecting with Associate Director of Advancement Diana Pineda, Trevino committed to financially supporting other Bauer students.

“I was able to be here because of scholarships, so being able to give back to students like me was a huge opportunity that I just couldn't pass that up. I'm very blessed to do what I do and be able to give in that way. It was a straightforward decision once we started having the conversations.”

After earning her finance degree, Trevino started a career in the banking industry, leading to her current role at Wells Fargo. She credits Bauer faculty and staff to getting her on the track to professional success and keeping her grounded as a student.

In her career, Trevino has found that the experience of being a Bauer student makes alumni prepared to work well with and understand people from all walks of life.

“It’s the culture of the people here,” Trevino said. “I had friends that were parents already. I knew people coming back to school after serving in the military. We all came from such different backgrounds, and that allowed me to grow as a person. That's what is so different about UH, and why I want it to thrive.”
