Longtime Rockwell Career Center Staff Transition to New Leadership Roles
Changes are underway at Rockwell Career Center (RCC), with two familiar faces taking on new leadership roles at Bauer College’s dedicated career services hub.
Troy Hopkins recently transitioned roles to RCC’s newest Director of Experiential Learning. Hopkins has been with RCC for more than a decade and works with students closely as an instructor for the required “Connecting Bauer to Business” course. Hopkins will be the second person to hold this experiential learning position, which has been incorporated into the college within the past five years.
“I am excited to take on the experiential learning position because I've seen how case competitions, internships and different outside the classroom opportunities can impact a student's life,” Hopkins said. “I'm really excited to bring more of those opportunities to students and start partnering more with companies to connect them to Bauer at all levels.”
Hopkins believes this position can help students navigate the decision fatigue of determining what career they want to pursue after graduation. Additionally, having experiential learning experiences can optimize students’ future job prospects, Hopkins said.
“Having the opportunity to do work outside the classroom and taking the theory that you've picked up in class and applying it in the real world — that could be through internships, externships, job shadowing, case competitions, things like that — is instrumental in helping them determine where they fit,” he said.
Longtime RCC staff member Megan Bauml has stepped into Hopkins’ previous position as Director of Undergraduate Business and Accountancy Career Counseling.
Over the years, Bauml has worked directly with countless students one-on-one and was the force behind establishing RCC’s Suit Closet years ago.
“After being in a student-facing position for the past 17 years, I am excited by the opportunity to continue serving our stakeholders in a different capacity, and to contribute to the Rockwell Career Center’s continued growth and success within the Bauer College community,” Bauml said.
“We also have a strong team in place to meet the needs of our students, and I am looking forward to continuing to work with them to ensure they have what they need to thrive in their roles.”
Rockwell Career Center Executive Director Kelly Collins believes these new leadership transitions will continue RCC’s commitment to student success.
“Troy’s longstanding tenure at Bauer and his deep understanding of both students and faculty uniquely position him to lead our efforts in experiential learning,” Collins said. “He knows firsthand the needs of our students and the importance of creating impactful, real-world opportunities that bridge classroom learning with career readiness.”
“Megan, who has been a key pillar of our team, has always been dedicated to supporting our students. Her promotion is a well-deserved recognition of her contributions and leadership. Together, they bring a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to providing students with the tools and guidance they need to succeed in their professional journeys,” Collins added.
