Decades of Bauer Dedication

Alumnus Samuel Schreiber Appointed Bauer College Board Chair

A Bauer College alumnus and banking executive is taking the helm of the Bauer College Board, with Samuel Schreiber (BBA '74) named to the chair position of the advisory group this fall.

Schreiber works as a senior advisor at Trustar Bank and has been a member of the Bauer College Board for 10 years. He acknowledged that he is taking on a large responsibility and it is one he will not take lightly.

“I’m a team player,” Schreiber said. “I’m absolutely honored to take on this role...I’m very proud and at the same time humbled. It comes at an exciting time and I’m 100 percent committed to doing my best. I’m happy to be working with Dean Geng and the Bauer Board.”

Schreiber succeeds retired PwC partner Paul Peacock (BBA ‘81). Peacock shares a similar story to Schreiber. They both consider themselves proud alumni and through their work on the Board want to give back to the student body.

“Paul has been a great leader for Bauer,” Schreiber said. “I want to recognize him for the great work and contributions he’s done as the Chair in his many years.”

In this position, his main goal is to work together with Bauer College Dean Xianjun Geng to support student success. He said it is also important to have an engaged and active Board who all operate under the same guiding principles of supporting the Dean, expanding Bauer’s network in the Houston business community and assisting in driving rankings.

“I’m excited about what (Geng) brings to the University of Houston,” Schreiber said. “I’m excited about his enthusiasm, his passion for success and his ability to focus and drive results.”

Over the years he has shown his support to the college and its students through his generous donations, most notably to the Bauer in D.C. Fellowship. In 2018, he backed the fellowship with a $50,000 pledge that would allow an additional two students to attend for the next five years (2023) and continues to support Bauer in D.C. annually.

As an alumnus, he is thankful for all the doors the college has opened for him. He said he wants to give back to the college for all that they have given him with his time, energy and philanthropy. There are many exciting changes he said he’s looking forward to being a part of such as the centennial in 2027, University of Houston’s continued expansion to Katy and the ongoing growth of the Bauer College of Business.

In a message to the students, he said, “Work hard and study hard. Stay focused, ask questions and take risks along the way. The best is yet to come.”
