Bauer College Celebrates Legacy of Charles T. "Ted" Bauer

The C. T. Bauer College of Business honored namesake Charles T. “Ted” Bauer this month during the annual Ted Bauer Day Resource Fair, recognizing his enduring legacy and vision for student success.

Bauer College celebrates Bauer’s March 3 birthday each year with a student-focused event in Melcher Hall. The day consists of a resource fair with various programs along with fun giveaways and activities.

The World War II U.S. Navy pilot, educational philanthropist and co-founder of Houston-based AIM Management Group transformed the business college at the University of Houston, gifting the school $40 million in 2000. The business school was then named the C. T. Bauer College of Business in honor of the generous gift.

“Ted Bauer Day is a great way for students to not only learn about programs the college offers, but the ongoing legacy Mr. Bauer left us,” Assistant Director of Student Engagement Jorge Arellano (BBA’14) said.  “As a Bauer alumnus myself, I saw the impact Mr. Bauer’s gift made on my academic journey, and it inspires me to share with current students how something that happened years ago is still providing a positive impact today.”

Programs including the Bauer in D.C. Fellowship, Bauer Ambassadors, Bauer Abroad and Rockwell Career Center engaged with students to share information about offerings outside of the classroom that can enhance their academic experience.

“During my sophomore year at Bauer, I attended Ted Bauer Day and found out about Bauer Ambassadors, and the rest is history,” supply chain management junior Mubin Momin said. “Being engaged helps me with my leadership qualities, and through Bauer Ambassadors, I’m able to represent the college and continue to share Mr. Bauer’s legacy with others.”
