Celebrating Career Milestones

Bauer’s Rockwell Career Center Recognizes Students at Inaugural Signing Day

Getting a dream job out of college is worth celebrating, and the C. T. Bauer College of Business did just that this spring at the inaugural Bauer Signing Day event organized by the Rockwell Career Center, recognizing more than 130 students for landing new jobs, internships and other career opportunities with leading companies, including KPMG, Apple, Amazon, Deloitte, Shell, IBM, EY and JPMorgan Chase.

Held on the first floor of Melcher Hall, the event transformed the space into a high-energy hub where students, staff, faculty and industry partners came together to honor success — and inspire more of it.

“This event was about more than job offers,” said Kelly Collins, acting department head and director of Bauer Graduate and Alumni Career Services. “It was a great way to connect our students with each other and with industry, while showcasing the real impact of early and ongoing engagement with RCC.”

For students like MBA candidate Saba Qadri, who recently accepted a project management role at LyondellBasell Industries, that engagement made all the difference.

“The career coaches at Rockwell helped me figure out the job market and find what I love,” she said. “They are there to help no matter how long it takes.”

That level of individualized support is a hallmark of Bauer College’s dedicated on-site career center. MBA candidate Manaal Quadri, now stepping into a program management role at the University of Houston’s Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, credits the team with helping her merge her interests in business and healthcare.

“As a new business student, I was looking for direction,” Quadri said. “The RCC helped me build confidence, find my strengths and discover a role that lets me give back.”

The event wasn’t limited to those with offers in hand. Students still exploring their next steps had the chance to network with recruiters from The Buckle, GradReach, GEICO, the City of Pearland and CareerSpring, with some landing interviews on the spot.

“We hear it again and again from our partners — Bauer students are driven, gritty and ready to contribute,” said Associate Director of Graduate Career Services Erin Reed. “Partnering with Bauer means direct access to a pipeline of 8,500 talented, career-ready students.”
