Enrollment Open for Fall Bauer Mini-MBA
Houston professionals can expand their business expertise on an expedited timeline by enrolling in the Bauer Mini-MBA, happening Sept. 28-Oct. 2.
The five-day program delivers business fundamentals and specialized curriculum for individuals working across industries. Hosted at the C. T. Bauer College of Business campus, the Mini-MBA welcomes new and experienced professionals as they select the offering that best aligns with their career goals.

Artificial Intelligence
With a focus on business application, the Mini-MBA in Artificial Intelligence teaches attendees best practices and how to use the technology to add value to their organizations.
Courses are taught by full-time Bauer faculty, who bring research insight and classroom experience. After completing the program, attendees are expected to have a comprehensive view of latest developments pertaining to AI.
“Houston and Bauer are at the forefront of AI application,” said Department of Decision & Information Sciences Chair Meng Li, who also serves as director of the college’s Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Institute.
“We can’t ignore how AI has tremendously changed our industries,” he said. “Especially in Texas, our unique location and proximity to the energy hub changes how companies will invest in AI in the future.”
While professionals may have experience using AI tools in their personal lives, Li said there are key differences in using it for business.
“You may be familiar with using ChatGPT, but the industrial setting can be fundamentally different. For example, data privacy is a concern for companies that would like to develop their own large language models,” he said. “It’s important for people to understand how to incorporate advanced AI technology in their specific workplace.”
Management & Leadership
Professionals stepping into leadership positions for the first time can formally learn how to guide teams through the Management & Leadership Mini-MBA.
Department of Management & Leadership Chair Steve Werner said sessions like Managing Human Resource and Executive Communications can provide essential information to those who don’t have an educational background in the topic.
“At times, people get promoted without having any managerial experience, and there are a lot of important aspects to understand,” Werner said. “Within a week, we review human behavior, psychology at work and laws that they need to know about.”
Additionally tackling universal workforce needs like staffing and compensation, Werner said seasoned managers can also benefit by refreshing their skills, and learning about current developments in the field.
“Our classes deal with current issues such as remote work and AI,” he said. “If you earned your degree several years ago, those weren't common topics. We have recent expertise and research about the best way to use them. We bring professionals up to date.”
