RCC Career Coaches Bring Resources to Students at Meet and Greet Event

Students at C. T. Bauer College of Business learned about the various services the Rockwell Career Center (RCC) offers at this semester’s Rock Your Career Meet and Greet.
Undergraduate and graduate students had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with RCC career coaches at stations dedicated to different resources, including employer relations, Bauer Career Gateway assistance and more. Along the way, students got stamps at each station for prizes and giveaways.
“The thing that most students don't realize is your career coach is going to be your biggest advocate,” RCC Executive Director Kelly Collins said. “The more we get to know you as students, the more we can help you be successful in your job search.”
The event gave students the chance to connect with RCC staff outside of their Cemo Hall location and in an approachable setting, Collins said. By meeting students where they are, she added, the team made personal connections that will last beyond the Meet and Greet.
Accounting sophomore Ahmed Younus was one of the students who got his questions answered at the event.
“They gave their time and effort for me,” Younus said. “I learned a lot, especially about the RCC Suit Closet, Career Gateway and LinkedIn. I really enjoyed the experience.”
The LinkedIn tips station was a fan-favorite amongst attendees. The station gave students immediate feedback on what improvements to make to their profiles to impress recruiters.

One station informed students about RCC’s Suit Closet, an on-campus professional attire resource that is free to Bauer students.
“They get to pick out blazers, shirts, pants, belts or any business clothing that they need for interviews or important professional events,” RCC student employee Seher Rahim said. “It’s a free day, 10-day rental where students can check the suit out and wear it to those events.”
After meeting the career counselors, management information systems junior Rayyan Zakibaig said he plans to work with the RCC in the future to apply for full-time jobs.
“I didn't know that companies will directly reach out to the Rockwell Career Center and try to find applicants from within our college, and that having our information there can be a great resource in our job search,” Zakibaig said.
Accounting junior Cesar Sosa stopped by Rock Your Career by chance, but said he’s glad he did.
“They've given me some good tips and ideas on what I can do with my LinkedIn profile, and other companies that I could look at through their career portal,” Sosa said.
