Business Meets Engineering in Katy
Bauer College Expands Katy Offerings in Upcoming Semester
This spring, students can enroll in an expanded number of Bauer College undergraduate courses at the University of Houston Katy campus, as the college continues its commitment to serve the west Houston region.
Nine in-person classes will be offered from various business disciplines, including finance, marketing, entrepreneurship and management. For students living in the Katy area, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Business Programs Olivia Miljanic said these courses will cut back on commute times while still delivering Bauer signature curriculum, allowing students to reallocate more time to personal needs and responsibilities.
“We are very excited to be able to serve the Katy community that is growing at an accelerated rate,” Miljanic said. “There's a large population of students who want the programs that we’re offering in the area. We can connect them to a path of employment opportunities while also meeting the needs of nearby companies.”
Additionally, Bauer plans to offer popular minors in business administration and finance for the first time in Katy this spring. These minors are strategically intended to complement existing engineering degree plans exclusively available at the Katy campus, according to Miljanic.
“We have been able to develop a curriculum roadmap that supports students in leveraging the synergy between the business minor and the engineering major in a way where they can complete requirements for both within four years,” she said.
Miljanic added: “We know from the employer side that a combination of engineering technical skills with business acumen is powerful and very much sought after in the job market today, so we really are excited about preparing our students for success.”
Courses are not exclusive to business or engineering students and can be taken by anyone enrolled at the University of Houston. Students can learn more here or schedule an appointment with their academic adviser.
