C. T. Bauer College of Business seniors Valeria Serenil and Alexander Lammayot are in the national spotlight, both recently named on Poets&Quants 100 Best & Brightest Undergraduate Business Majors of 2026 list.

The list recognizes high-achieving business school students who have shown impressive leadership and involvement outside of the classroom. In addition to their academic successes, Serenil and Lammayot have made their marks on Bauer College through Bauer Ambassadors, the Emerging Leaders Academic Success Program (ELASP), the Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship and more.

“Alex and Valeria have been stellar students since the moment they stepped on campus,” Director of Student Success Whitney Johnson said. “They've continued to take advantage of every opportunity that we offer here at Bauer College, and it's no doubt that they're more than deserving of being honored for this.”

Serenil was busy participating in Wolffest, serving as the CEO of the student team Wolff Nation, when she learned of her place on the list. She first became familiar with the Poets&Quants 100 Best & Brightest Undergraduate Business Majors list in 2024, when her Bauer Ambassadors peer Karenina Urquieta (BBA ‘24) was recognized.

Serenil said Urquieta was like a mentor to her, and this accomplishment feels full circle.

“I'm incredibly grateful,” she said. “My professors, mentors and Bauer staff have all played a role in crafting my college experience. I'm excited for the future, but it’s bittersweet to leave.”

Lammayot heard he was included in the 2026 list from Johnson. Beyond the personal joy, Lammayot said he was proud to positively represent the University of Houston, Bauer and the college’s HUB for Student Success

“Whitney Johnson was one of the first people I met at Bauer when she gave a speech to all the freshmen in ELASP,” he said. “It’s been fulfilling to see how much I've grown and how much she's been a part of my success over the past four years.”

Serenil and Lammayot’s success continues a streak of outstanding Bauer students landing on previous Best & Brightest Undergraduate Business Majors lists.
