Backyard Bauer BBQ
Bauer Graduate Barbecue Serves Up Community, Celebration, Connection
With spring in the air and the Houston sun out, the C. T. Bauer College of Business invited graduate students and their families to campus on a Saturday at the end of March for the 2026 Bauer Graduate Barbecue.
Every spring, the college's Office of Graduate & Professional Programs (GPP) organizes the social event for students across MBA and MS programs to enjoy a lively backyard barbecue and relax to celebrate the end of the academic year.
At this spring's event, GPP served up southern staples like brisket, sausage and potato salad. Outside, there was a bounce house set up for the younger kids to enjoy, along with a balloon artist, face painter and caricature station for all ages.
This end-of-year celebration may be what caps off a successful first year in Bauer’s graduate program, or the last campus event a student attends before graduation.
Argentina Guerra (MS Finance)
“I love being a part of the Bauer community. It’s full of amazing people who are willing to uplift one another. I’m really happy to be involved.”
Rojan Shrestha (Full-time MBA)
“Whether it is at events or in the classroom, I love getting to know all my classmates. I have a lot of fond memories I’ve made with them. Being a graduate ambassador has been an amazing experience because it’s really helped me in putting myself out there.”
Ritika Kharti (MS Business Analytics)
“When I joined Bauer, it helped me grow personally and professionally. I got an internship with guidance from Rockwell Career Center and then that turned into a full-time job. I love helping new students, it’s like empowering them and myself.”
Smit Patel (MS Global Energy Leadership)
“I have had a lot of great memories over the last two years. I’ve spent time with my friends at the rec center rock climbing and playing soccer or just hanging out in the CBB lounge. Bauer has helped me build confidence in myself.”
Shani Lin (MS Marketing)
“It makes me happy to talk to new students and help them. I have to arrange what I learned here and what I’ve achieved so that by the time we have a coffee chat, I can tell them all about my experience. Those are the times where I look back and think, ‘oh, I really did learn a lot here and I made good friends.’ People help each other here all the time.”
