"While Fintechs offer tools to track users’ carbon footprints, those tools don’t change spending behavior. Although the information is clear and easy to understand, it’s not enough to shift habits," Gargano said. "But here’s the twist: services that automatically offset emissions, like tree‑planting programs, are far more effective at reducing a user’s carbon impact."

He added: "As more financial institutions add sustainability tools, the easiest, most automatic options could make the biggest difference."
