An Outstanding Contribution

A statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing graduate education has recognized Administrative Director of Accounting Programs Erica Casillas as Member of the Year. 

The Texas Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals (TxGAP) selected Casillas for the honor for her outstanding contributions to the organization and graduate enrollment management. 

Casillas, who has served more than 13 years in various roles in the college’s Department of Accountancy & Taxation, oversees recruitment for the MS Accountancy, Certificate in Accountancy and BBA Accounting programs.  

“I love the ability to impact change for the better for our student populations,” Casillas said. “Our department is very involved with trying to make things better for the students and provide them with a good experience.”  

TxGAP is a nonprofit organization that supports graduate enrollment professionals in Texas by facilitating networking, enhancing relationships and improving the quality of graduate student pools.   

In addition to TxGAP, Casillas is a member of numerous professional organizations, including NAGAP (The Association for Graduate Enrollment Management) and the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education (TACHE). She has served on TxGAP’s Professional Development & Strategic Initiatives committee as well as the Conference’s Communications sub-committee. She has also volunteered to serve as a co-chair for the 2025 TxGAP Summer Institute.
