Bauer College Welcomes New Faculty to Campus
Each fall semester, the C. T. Bauer College of Business welcomes new faculty to complete its world class teaching and research roster and meet the needs of students.
This year’s new faculty include an information science expert whose research holds the potential to enhance how public sector resources are allocated and a graduate of Bauer’s MBA and doctoral programs who now leads talent acquisition for some of the most innovative and influential companies in the world.
TENURE-TRACK FACULTY
Shubham Akshat
Assistant Professor
Department of Decision & Information Sciences
Shubham Akshat was Visiting Assistant Professor of Operations Management at Carnegie Mellon University before coming to Bauer College.
His research primarily concerns improving resource allocation in the public sector using data-driven frameworks. He works in liver-organ transplantation (healthcare) and the child welfare system. He was a finalist in the INFORMS Public Sector Operations Research Best Paper competition for 2020 and won an Honorable Mention for Best Paper in a competition sponsored by the College of Healthcare Operations Management of the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS).
Akshat earned a Ph.D. in Operations Management from the University of Maryland, College Park and a Bachelor’s of Technology in Production & Industrial Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Lawrence Houston, III
Assistant Professor
Department of Management & Leadership
Lawrence Houston, III was Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management at Rutgers University prior to joining the Bauer College. He was an Assistant Professor in the Management Department at Oregon State University from 2015 to 2020.
Houston’s research is focused on understanding the ways employees build and maintain strong, positive relationships at work, including customer-employee, coworker-coworker, and leader-follower relationships. His work explores pathways for managing intergroup relations effectively and organizational leadership.
Houston was named an Early Career Faculty Fellow by Rutgers’ Institute for the Study of Global Racial Justice in 2022. He earned a Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a Master’s degree in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Pennsylvania State University. Houston holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Memphis.

Bolanle Adesanya
Adjunct Faculty
Department of Decision & Information Sciences
Adesanya has been Lead Data and AI Engineer for Deloitte Consulting since 2021. Prior to that she has held various roles of increasing responsibility implementing and delivering strategic data management and analytics initiatives in the highly regulated and complex energy industry.
She has a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics and a minor in Health Data Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Adesanya also has an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin.
Maha Arafat

Arafat earned a BBA in Marketing from the Bauer College and was a Student Sales Representative in the Stephen Stagner Sales Excellence Institute while at Bauer College.
Skye Binion

Binion earned a BBA in Marketing from the Bauer College and was a Student Sales Representative and Key Account Manager in the Stephen Stagner Sales Excellence Institute. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance.
Danna Ceron Jaramillo

Ceron has been Program Director for the Bauer College Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship since 2020, where her responsibilities include managing outside partnerships and student mentors and allocating student scholarship funds, among others.
She previously worked for Adroit Partners, LLC and Expressworks International.
Ceron earned undergraduate degrees in Management and Entrepreneurship from Bauer College.
Alan Dawson

Department of Finance
Dawson is a bank underwriting and risk professional who has been Senior Vice President for Commercial Banking at Third Coast Bank since 2022.
He earned an MBA from Bauer College and graduated with a BBA in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000.
Meredith Futch

Department of Marketing & Entrepreneurship
Futch has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Bauer College. She was a Key Account Manager in the Stephen Stagner Sales Excellence Institute at Bauer, and earned an Advanced Professional Sales Certificate while at Bauer.
Brian Gelb
Adjunct Faculty
Department of Management & Leadership
Gelb retired in 2023 as the Human Resources Vice President for North American Assets at Shell. In the two decades prior to that, he served as an HR manager for Shell in Pennsylvania, The Netherlands and Houston. He also worked for Nestle USA for a decade and served as a community college trustee board member.
Gelb has an MBA from The College of William & Mary and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Wheaton College (IL). He is currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Business at Bauer.
Barry Ingram
Adjunct Faculty
Department of Decision & Information Sciences
Ingram is the Director of International Faculty Initiatives at Indiana Wesleyan University. He is the Chief Technical Officer and owner of Motto Mortgage Independence, an E-brokerage, and retired as a Cyberspace Officer from the United States Air Force Reserve. As an IT consultant, he has held roles as a Program Manager, Chief Engineer, Software Developer, Data Visualization/Analytics Engineer, and Product Champion for companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northop Grumman, and CACI.
Ingram has a Ph.D. in Information Technology from the University of the Cumberlands, a Master’s degree in Divinity from Virginia Union University, a Master’s in Business Administration (MIS) from Bellevue University and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
Sanjiv Kumar
Adjunct Faculty
Department of Management & Leadership
Kumar is the Global Head of Talent at Biomarin, a biotechnology company that uses the science of genetic discovery to advance the future of human health. He works with C-suite and executive management to build differentiated leadership and management capability, empowering a culture of high performance and engagement. Prior to joining Biomarin, Kumar led Global Talent and Organizational Development for Applied Materials. Inc., the Silicon Valley based semiconductor company. Sanjiv has also led Human Capital consulting practices for Deloitte Consulting and worked with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria.
He has led major transformation efforts (including digital) in global and complex organizations that are operating in fast-paced and results-driven environments, working across a breadth of industries that include Technology, Consulting, and Energy.
Kumar received his MBA and Ph.D. in Management from Bauer College, and has taught MBA and Executive MBA courses for both University of Houston and Tulane University. He has published articles in the Strategic Management Journal and Business Horizons.
Andrew Netzel
Adjunct Faculty
Department of Department of Decision & Information Sciences
Netzel is a Senior Program Manager at Altec Industries, leading customer training worldwide for over 1,000 organizations and ensuring the safety of Altec equipment users. He previously worked for Altec as an Account Manager, and also served in various U.S. Army leadership positions from 2009 to 2017. He flew UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters while in the Army and served both stateside and abroad.
Netzel has a DBA from Liberty University, an MBA from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Kimberley Rash Schultz

Kimberley Rash Schultz has served as adjunct business school faculty for Texas A&M University, Corpus Christi and at Blinn College. She is a Financial Controller/CFO working in the commercial printing and advertising sector, and previously worked as Accounting Manager and Director of Business Process Management at an energy company.
Schultz has an MBA from Louisiana State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Development from Texas A&M.
